Sustainable Development Goal Projects
Sustainable Development Goal Projects
The SustainCERT App has been designed to function for GS4GG projects, which require a minimum of 3 SDG contributions to be monitored, therefore requires 3 SDGs values to be inputted as a default.
If your project has not transitioned to GS4GG, please input the SDGs you plan on monitoring for your project.
Becoming a GS4GG
Validated but not registered: Projects seeking to transition from other schemes (e.g. CDM/VCS) to GS4GG must be registered with the scheme.
Otherwise, they must submit as a new project and follow the complete project cycle. This interpretation has special relevance for the following GS Rule Update.
A Project type is automatically eligible for Gold Standard Certification if there are Gold Standard-approved Activity Requirements and/or Impact Quantification Methodologies associated with it or it’s referenced in the Gold Standard Product Requirements. These are published to the Gold Standard website and shall be followed where provided for a given Project type. (Paragraph 4.1.3, PRINCIPLES & REQUIREMENTS)
This rule update is applicable to projects that are automatically eligible for Gold Standard certification and seek transition to GS4GG.
Eligibility
1. All projects that transition to GS4GG shall demonstrate Ongoing Financial Need at the time of renewal of their crediting period, as applicable to all registered GS4GG projects.
RE Projects
To be eligible, a project must delivery grid-connected renewable energy certified under an eligible Renewable Energy Product Standard, such as the International renewable energy certificates (I-RECs) Standard. A list of eligible renewable energy technologies is included in the GS4GG Renewable Energy Activity Requirements.
Grid-connected Renewable Energy (RE) projects seeking labelling of emission reductions under GS4GG (for example, GS-CERs (Certified Emission Reductions)) are exempted from the geographic, income, and penetration eligibility requirements listed in paragraph 2.1.3, V1.2, RE Activity Requirements but must still meet other eligibility requirements outlined in the document. However, note that this exemption is only allowed to projects that started the first crediting period with the original carbon crediting scheme 01/01/2016 or later but before 24/01/2020.
The new Gold Standard Renewable Energy Label seeks to support the transition to a low-carbon economy through catalysing the expansion of renewable energy capacity globally. As such, projects may receive Issuance of Gold Standard Renewable Energy Labels for a maximum of two GS4GG Certification Renewals, amounting to a total Issuance of 15 years.
