Is my grid-connected renewable energy project eligible for the issuance of Gold Standard Verified Emission Reductions (GS-VERs) or Gold Standard labels for Certified Emission Reductions (GS-CERs)?

Per the Renewable Energy Activity Requirements v1.2, paragraph 2.1.3, there is an eligibility clause that went in to effect 24 Jan 2020. Projects submitted for preliminary review after this date shall demonstrate compliance with this eligibility requirement.

 

Grid-connected renewable energy projects must be located in either a: 

OR

 

Additionally, projects will be ineligible if:

  1. a renewable energy project is connected to national or a regional grid AND located in an Upper Middle- or High-Income Country

AND

      2. the project is located in a country where the penetration rate of the proposed Renewable Energy Technology type is greater than 5% of the total grid installed capacity at the time of the first submission (for Preliminary Review) to Gold Standard.
