Can non-renewable fuels be used for biomass energy generation plants?

The use of non-renewable fuel in biomass heat and/or electricity generation plants is authorised as long as the renewable fuel share reaches 50% (percentage of the total fuel consumed on an annual basis) after the first 3 years of operation (from the start date of the crediting period) for retrofit projects and represents 80% from the outset for Greenfield projects.
